It’s been a week since I started my new post-covid routine in the gym. The results have been very encouraging. In fact, I think I may have cracked the code for getting my HbA1c below 5.8.
I’ve followed my new workout to the letter except for a couple of things. First, my time on the elliptical machine. We have time restrictions in my gym, so I can only have around a half-hour on any cardio machine.

Secondly, my gym has removed things like dumbbells for fear of spreading covid. So that means I’ve had to bring in some different exercises. For instance, instead of hammer curls yesterday, I just grabbed a 42 lbs plate and curled that.
What have my blood glucose readings been this week? Every one has been 6.7 or better. Thursday morning was a 5.8 reading. This morning was 6.0. That means my blood glucose continues to come down during the morning and afternoon. A good portion of my day will see my blood glucose well below 5.8 mmol/L. How much lower will I get these numbers when I throw a three day fast in at the end of the month? We’ll see.
So taken together: tight eating window, occasional fasting, very low carb diet, lifting a lot of heavy things, no red wine and a good amount of moderate cardio may be my recipe for optimum blood control.

I’ll write another update next Friday.
